What is COVID-19 teaching us ?

This pandemic Covid -19 has changed many things in our lives, it has changed how we used to go out and enjoy with our friends and family, it has changed how we used to live freely and breathe the fresh air. It has become very difficult now to function in our daily lives, from going outside for buying groceries, travelling through airplanes or by railways or to visiting a hospital or a dentist, it all has changed drastically. So, we will be discussing today about how a visit to your dentist will now be after the Covid -19 lockdown ends. Earlier it was advised by ADA to stop all the treatments or the procedures in April so as to stop any spread of the virus by asking the patients to not go for treatments which are not urgent.

But now as the daily lives are coming back on track due to the end of the lockdown , the dentists are also coming back on track with their clinical practice. Many dental associations have issued guidelines which need to be followed by the dentists to prevent infection and keep themselves and their staff safe in this Corona time. So, let’s see what changes you will see when you go to visit your dentist after the lockdown.

First of all you will be asked to limit the companions who come along with you in your appointment so as to limit the spread of infection . Dentists are now asked to make less appointments so as to have enough time for sanitisation of the dental chair after every patient. When you enter you can get your temperature tested and you’ll find sanitisers all around so as to keep using it if you touch anything in the clinic . Moreover the crowd will be less and you’ll have ample of time for your treatment. You’ll find everybody will be wearing masks and the dentist wearing PPE kit with face shields on so as to protect himself and you both from getting infected. You’ll notice things very well organised and covered with plastic sheets or disposable sheets so as to prevent spread of infection. When the treatments get finished you’ll find the staff cleaning the dental chair, the instruments and the whole area thoroughly with disinfectant so as to limit the spread of infection to other patients . This is to be done after each and every patient to maintain proper hygiene and follow the guidelines for Covid prevention. If you find any symptom related to Covid then don’t forget to share the news to your dentist as well because you may have been contracted from the clinic or carrying it since before only.
